The time has come! Our capital city is turning 750 years old and of course this has to be celebrated in a big way. From passing tall-ships to dancing people on the ring, nothing is too crazy! Take a look at these blogs for the best activities of 2025 and don’t miss a thing!

The party on the A10 ring road

The ring road between the a5 and the a1 will be closed to make a big party. You don’t see this every day! “As a capital city, you only turn 750 once in a lifetime!”, says Mayor Halsema. Saturday 21 June, or the longest day of the year, 15 kilometres of the A10 ring road will be closed to cars. Music, sports, theatre, dance will be present! Het Groot feest op de Ring A10!

De toekomsttiendaagse,

During this anniversary we look back as well as forward, with de toekomsttiendaagse. We delve into Amsterdam’s history, for instance with the Tolprivilege from 1275, the oldest document mentioning the city by name – the capital’s birth certificate. At the same time, we set our sights on Mokum’s future. Where will the city go? What will it look like? We do this with the Future Ten Days, a series of exhibitions, open days, conferences, competitions and innovations that put Amsterdam and the surrounding metropolitan region in the spotlight. We will round off the event with the Midsummer Festival on the Ring.

50 years of SAIL

Let’s start with an event first organised in 1975, at the same time as the 700th anniversary of Mokum. The largest freely accessible event in all of Europe: namely SAIL. And not just any edition, as it is the 50th edition of this event. With the impressive Tall-Ships, over 800 expected ships and an expected 2.3 million visitors, this promises to be a huge spectacle!
